All About Drywall Sanding
Your walls inside are most likely drywall. You could choose to paint them flat or use tiles to decorate. You can use any wall decoration you like, but the installation of drywall should be flawless. This includes properly sanding your drywall. If you don't, any imperfections in the residential painting will show or hinder your ability to install tiles.
Drywall Sanding - What is it all for?
The finishing phase sees the drywall contractors Denver applying joint compound to cover any imperfections. Let me pause for just a moment so you know that there’s 5 levels to drywall. However, we are referring here to interior main walls which must be finished in order not to show imperfections. Drywall companies use level 3, 4, and 5 to finish drywall.
Let's start sanding. Sanding is necessary when compound is applied to cracks and joints. This will ensure there are no uneven levels. Some depressions may be very difficult to smoothen without scratching the surface. These scratches could show through a thin layer or flat paint. You can choose from fine or coarse sandpaper. However, there are two different methods of drywall sanding.
Dry drywall-sanding
This is a standard way to use a sander on uneven areas caused by joint compound. It is messy work as there is lots of dust. The key is to use the appropriate sander (fine/grit) and apply consistent pressure, preferably in circular movements. It is essential that the joint compound is dry before you sand.
Wet drywall-sanding
Wet drywall polishing leaves little dust behind, so it is almost as easy to clean up later. It is far superior to dry sanding in this situation. What is the disadvantage? The disadvantage? It is easy to see the difference by looking at the tool: a sponge. This sponge, made from polyurethane plastic, is very similar to carpet padding. However, if you wish to add a little sand, a simple cotton cloth will do. Just wet the sponge. Next, squeeze any water out so that it doesn't drip. Finally, sand. This is the best method if your drywall texture is heavy or you intend to cover it with tiles, wainscoting or wallpaper. It is not the best way to apply semi, flat, or gloss paints. Because imperfections are photographed, it will not be the best choice.
Be prepared to do drywall repair and even sanding.
Don't forget about cracks and drywall gaps. It only takes a few frames pictures to make nail holes. You will need to repair drywall if you plan on remodeling your living space or redecorating your dining area walls. The compound you need to fill the cracks will also be needed.
Sanding finishes the drywall finish job by leaving the surface smooth and ready-for-decoration. However, it is important to know which drying method you should use. One method is ideal for light work and low expectations. The other method can lead to damage of the paper fascia.
